Notes on data sources: centralised sources of data that were
available in the early stages of H1N1, such as WHO and CDC, and
individual states' health agencies, have progressively withdrawn
from open reporting. As time has passed, this has made data
collection more and more difficult. We have concentrated on analysis
based on fatalities because they are more likely to be reported by a
variety of agencies and news organisations, and because they have a
more definitive definition than cases of illness. Wikipedia has a
number of valuable resources that aggregate fully attributed data,
and we have used these as inputs to our analysis where this has
proved to be a reliable source. |
